Dunham Records was founded in 2005 by Thomas Brenneck as an outlet for his love of soulful vintage recordings. Dunham affiliated quickly with Daptone Records and Brenneck enrolled fellow musicians from the Dap-Kings, El Michels Affair and Antibalas in his bedroom studio creating his own distinct sound with the Menahan Street Band. Their first single “Make the Road By Walking” was sampled by the Jay-Z for his smash hit "Roc Boys". This early success enabled Dunham Records to expand. Brenneck teamed up with drummer Homer Steinweiss and invested in a full analog studio with proper control and live rooms in South Williamsburg forming Dunham Studios in 2008.

Since its inception, Dunham has released a slew a singles and one uncompromising album all featuring the quasi house-band Menahan Street Band. Along the way Brenneck and Steinweiss have hosted a “who’s who” of high profile musicians and producers including Cee-Lo, Mary J. Blige, D’Angelo, Mark Ronson, Theophilus London, K’Naan, John Taylor, Benny Blanco, John Hill, Santigold, Foreigner, St. Vincent, The Like, Sean Lennon, Alex Greenwald, Miike Snow, The Kaiser Chiefs and Bebel Gilberto.

Dunham Records looks to the future with high hopes, ready to push boundaries and break ground with new artists. With a strong belief in its family of studio musicians, Dunham will be continue to release soulful and honest music.
